HOW WE COLLECT YOUR PERSONAL DATA
We collect data about you when you provide it to us directly (for example by filling in forms on our site, placing an order, or sending us emails). We may automatically collect certain data from you as you use our website by using cookies and similar technologies. Please see the Cookies section below for more details about this.
We may receive data from third parties such as analytics providers, advertising networks, search information providers, and providers of technical, payment and delivery services. Some of these providers are based outside the United Kingdom.
We may also receive data from publicly available sources such as Companies House and the Electoral Register.
MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS
You will receive marketing communications from us if you have:
a) asked us to send them, or given us your details and opted in to receive them; or
b) bought goods or services from us and were given a clear opportunity to refuse marketing at that time,
and, in either case, you have not since opted out of receiving our marketing.
We will not share your information with any third party for their own marketing purposes without your permission.
You can ask us to stop sending you marketing messages at any time, by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, by replying STOP to any marketing text message, or by emailing us at cobbydog@cobbydog.com
Where you opt out of receiving our marketing communications, this will not apply to any personal data provided to us as a result of a product or service purchase, or other transaction. We will still send you messages we need to send about an order you have placed, such as order confirmations and delivery updates.
TEXT MESSAGE (SMS) MARKETING
If you have given us your consent, we may send you marketing text messages about our products, offers, new arrivals and promotions. We will only send you marketing texts where you have specifically opted in to receive them, or where you are an existing customer who was given the opportunity to refuse marketing at the time we collected your details. Consent to receive marketing texts is never a condition of purchasing anything from us.
What we send: promotional offers, product news, restock alerts and reminders about items left in your basket. Message frequency varies, but we would not expect to send more than a small number of marketing messages each month.
How to opt out: you can stop receiving marketing texts at any time by replying STOP to any message from us, or by contacting us at cobbydog@cobbydog.com or on 01535 681927. Reply HELP for assistance. Your network's standard message and data rates may apply.
Service messages: we may still send you non-marketing texts relating to an order you have placed, for example dispatch and delivery notifications. Opting out of marketing texts does not stop these.
To send these messages we share your phone number with our SMS provider, who processes it on our behalf and is not permitted to use it for their own purposes. We use Shopify to power our text message marketing.

Some of the service providers we use are based outside the United Kingdom, so their processing of your personal data will involve a transfer of data outside the UK.
Whenever we transfer your personal data out of the UK, we take steps to ensure a similar degree of protection by making sure at least one of the following safeguards is in place:
• the transfer is to a country that the UK Government has decided provides an adequate level of protection for personal data; or
• we use specific contracts approved for use in the UK which give personal data the same protection it has here, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
If you would like more information about the specific safeguard used for a transfer of your data, please email us at cobbydog@cobbydog.com
DATA RETENTION
We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.
When deciding what the correct time is to keep the data for, we look at its amount, nature and sensitivity, the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure, the processing purposes, whether these can be achieved by other means, and legal requirements.
For tax purposes the law requires us to keep basic information about our customers (including Contact, Identity, Financial and Transaction Data) for six years after they stop being customers.
We keep a record of your marketing consents and opt-outs for as long as necessary to demonstrate that we have complied with our legal obligations, and we keep a record of opt-out requests indefinitely so that we do not contact you again in error.
In some circumstances we may anonymise your personal data for research or statistical purposes, in which case we may use this information indefinitely without further notice to you.
YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS
Under data protection law you have rights in relation to your personal data that include the right to request access, correction, erasure, restriction, transfer, to object to processing, to portability of data and (where the lawful ground of processing is consent) to withdraw consent.
You can see more about these rights at: https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/uk-gdpr-guidance-and-resources/individual-rights/
If you wish to exercise any of the rights set out above, please email us at cobbydog@cobbydog.com
You will not have to pay a fee to access your personal data (or to exercise any of the other rights). However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive, or refuse to comply with your request in these circumstances.
We may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity and ensure your right to access your personal data (or to exercise any of your other rights). This is a security measure to ensure that personal data is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it. We may also contact you to ask you for further information in relation to your request to speed up our response.
We try to respond to all legitimate requests within one month. Occasionally it may take us longer than a month if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests. In this case, we will notify you.
If you are not happy with any aspect of how we collect and use your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection issues (www.ico.org.uk). We should be grateful if you would contact us first if you do have a complaint so that we can try to resolve it for you.
