Waste Not, Want Not! How to Make the Most Out of Your Dog Food

01 . February .2024Katy van suilchem0 Comments

If you’re already a fan of our cold pressed dog food, you may have been tempted just to get rid of the fine particles at the bottom of your food bag.

We’re here to explain why every last morsel of our dog food is worth using and why your pup will thank you for it!

Why are there crumbs at the bottom of the bag?

The powder that collects at the bottom of your dog food bag is simply the bits of food that have come loose from the cold pressed pellets.

Our cold pressed range is made by gently pressing the ingredients together into pellets. When this product is transported, the pellets often rub against each other, producing a fine powder. Although this is usually a very small amount, it’s still worth using to minimise waste and make the most out of your purchase.

Is it nutritious?

Although the crumbs look slightly different from the rest of the cold pressed pellets, they are equally nutritious and delicious for your furry friend.

You can add the powder to the existing cold pressed or wet food in your dog’s bowl. Or, if you’re feeling creative, why not try something a bit different?

What can I do with the leftovers?

Don’t waste the crumbs! Here are a few creative ways to make the most out of your dog food.

  • Add the fine powder to your dog’s regular meal, or turn it into a paste for a slow feeder lick mat.
  • Mix with water to create a paste to pop into an ice cube tray for a refreshing treat on a hot day.
  • Use the crumbs to create some delicious dog biscuits in the oven.
