This is because we know that all dogs are different and they all have their own specific likes and dislikes.

All our premium dog food can also be soaked in water before feeding, which again changes the texture. For an extra treat you could moisten your dog’s meal by adding some tasty gravy to the food.

The best way to change your dog's food is to do it gradually. There may be many reasons for you to switch dog food;perhaps your dog is gaining or losing weight, your vet has recommended you do so, your dog has developed allergies or your budget has changed. The main thing is it to take it a step at a time, probably over the course of a week or so.

We recommend starting with a mixture of a quarter Cobbydog and three quarters of the current food each meal. Increase the amounts to half and then three quarters Cobbydog, until eventually you are sure that your dog’s digestion is fine and he is eating a full bowl of his favourite Cobbydog! Remember, the slower the transition the less chance there will be of upsetting your doggie's stomach

Feeding Guide

All our complete dog foods can be eaten dry or moistened with water. You will see in our Dog feeding guide that we recommend that you feed your dog at the same time every day. This helps to establish a routine and usually means less wasted food. Keep your dog’s water and food bowls clean and monitor how much food your dog eats. Differing activity levels and weight can mean that you have to adjust the amount of food you give your pet.

Your dogs can eat the same food all their life; however a dog’s lifestyle and age can have an impact on which food you should give them. If your dog is active and full of energy we usually advise a complete high protein dog food. In the same way, older dogs that do not get as much exercise may need a lower protein dog food, such as Cobbydog Adult. Our dog feeding guide below provides approximate recommended quantities, bearing in mind the particular needs of dogs. A lot can depend on the age, breed and level of activity of your dog.

Protein quality and quantity will affect the milk production of your breeding bitch. It is therefore essential to provide a high standard of food at this time and one that is consistently high protein dog food to ensure the bitch's good health. It may be advisable to moisten the food with one fifth milk to four fifths water at this time when extra special care is required to achieve good results.

A bitch in good condition at mating can continue to receive her usual diet until the second half of gestation. It will then be necessary to increase the food allowance by ten per cent each week from the sixth week onwards so that the intake at birth is approximately fifty per cent more than at mating.
We can also advise that lactating bitches can be fed on Cobbydog Puppy food, a high protein dog food.
